What is wrong with my car/engine?

I drive a 1989 Mustang GT convertible, and when i put the pedal to the metal i notice some white smoke that comes out of my exhaust, it may be a little or it may be a lot. I also noticed my oil is used up quite a bit, I have to fill up the oil more than usual. I'm new to the auto mechanic stuff, so please help mechanics.
